DAVID TOLK

Born and raised in the small wooded colonial town of Mendham, New Jersey, David Tolk studied classical piano from an early age with his mother, Marilyn Tolk, concert pianist and graduate of The Juilliard School. After moving to Brentwood, Tennessee in 1984, David began composing contemplative instrumental music while in high school. In 1993, David graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English literature. After his first year of law school at the University of Utah, David began performing with folk artist Peter Breinholt and has since recorded several CDs with Breinholt and has performed at sold out concerts throughout the United States.

David has recorded eight instrumental piano CDs, which have been marketed and distributed throughout the country. David’s music has been licensed for national distribution with North Star Music, an east coast record label. His music has been featured on television, film, and radio. David's solo piano arrangement of Amazing Grace was featured earlier this year on National Public Radio's "Hearts of Space" new age music program. David's arrangement of Amazing Grace was also selected to be included in a compilation CD titled "Music of Grace" which was recently released nationally with other "Hearts of Space" artists. His peaceful reflective music ranges from solo piano to complex, tastefully orchestrated compositions including violin, viola, cello, oboe, and acoustic guitar. David has performed and recorded with numerous performers including Peter Breinholt, Ryan Shupe, Nancy Hansen, and Colors in concert, on radio, and on television.

David lives with his wife and four children at the foot of the Wasatch mountains near Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition to his musical career, David is a shareholder with the law firm of Richards Brandt Miller Nelson in Salt Lake City.
